The Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame offers exhibits which portray the lives, achievements and history of Michigan women, including members of the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame. An art gallery with changing exhibits displays the work of outstanding Michigan women artists and photographers. The Cooley-Haze House, where the Center is located, is on the State Register of  Historic Historic Places and opened to the public on June 10, 1987. It is the first of its kind in the nation. The Center is a project of the Michigan Women's Studies Association, Inc., founded in 1973 to improve what is thought and taught about women in Michigan schools and universities.
